Sister Theresa Martin Pigott was the first principal of Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic School from 1959 to 1965. Sister Theresa Martin was born in Detroit, Michigan, in 1923. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, and a Masters of Arts degree in Administration, both from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian, Michigan; and an Associate's degree in Applied Science from Lourdes College in in Sylvania, Ohio.
Sister spent 33 years ministering in education in Elmwood Park, Illinois; Lansing, Jackson, Detroit and Inkster, Michigan; Oakland and Hayward, California; and Las Vegas, Nevada, which includes her service as principal at Our Lady of Las Vegas School from 1959-1965. In 1975 she began her work in health care and hospitality ministry. She served at Maria Health Care (Dominican Life) Center for 11 years in occupational therapy, and for six and one-half years she was a nursing assistant. She worked in Respite Care in Northville, Michigan for one and one-half years, and ministered for three years in night hospitality at Weber Center. Sister became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Michigan, in 2002.
