Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic School opened on September 8, 1959, with 150 students in the primary grades. The school was staffed by Adrian Dominican Sisters who remained an important part of the school until the mid 80's. Our Lady of Las Vegas school eventually grew to kindergarten through grade eight, and in 1987, a preschool was added to the program by remodeling the convent that was vacant.
In 1992, the first computer lab was set up with a grant from the E.L. Wiegand foundation. Four years later, the parish multi-purpose room was extensively remodeled for preschool, kindergarten, and an expanded library and computer lab. A student store was opened at the same time.
In 1998, a major construction project was undertaken to double school facilities. About 11,400 sq. ft. of classroom space was built and 1,900 sq. ft. of existing space was remodeled to add a second classroom to each grade and a much needed faculty center. In addition, a 3,000 sq. ft. Technology Center was constructed to house a new library and a 36-station computer lab. Each classroom was wired for both a computer network and a TV network. Lastly, a 8,200 sq. ft. gymnasium was opened as part of a new parish hall. Enrollment today is 525 students with space for 680.
